July 16, 2024 - Today a meeting was held by the Board of Directors of Palmyra Canaltown Days to assess the current status as well as the outlook for this year’s festival. Unfortunately, for multiple reasons, it has become evident that the festival is not in a position to be successful this year and as a result it was decided to cancel this year’s festival, and, going forward to dissolve the corporation.

Unfortunately, for multiple reasons, it has become evident that the festival is not in a position to be successful this year and as a result it was decided to cancel this year’s festival, and, going forward to dissolve the corporation.
Citing just a few of the reasons, things such as inadequate vendor response, ever increasing costs, difficulty recruiting new volunteers, inadequate sponsorships, ever changing rules and regulations, and a shortage of available parade units to name just a few. Additionally, due to the many changes that the festival has had to endure over the years it is no longer the historical festival that it was originally established to be. Over the years it has lost various activities that were significant parts of our festival and today is not the festival that it once was.
