Rose Lummis Boat Tours

Erie Canal BOAT RIDES on the Rose Lummis

Day Trips and Haunted Night Cruises

History and ghosts come together on The Spirits of the Eerie Canal haunted Erie Canal cruise, September 17-19 at the 43rd Annual Palmyra Canaltown Days.

The spooky cruise leaves the dock at 8pm. Your hosts, Brom, Laura, and Abigail, from the paranormal investigation group The Spirit Diggers, will take you on a 2-hour one-of-a-kind eerie tour of the Erie Canal aboard the Rose Lummis. As part of this haunting trip, you will hear ghost stories and creepy folk tales from the towns along the shores of this magnificent and often dark waterway. The Rose Lummis will dock along the banks of the canal where all of her passengers will take a moonlit walk to the doors of the haunted William Phelps General Store for an actual paranormal investigation. Perhaps you'll capture a photo or voice of a resident from the past using the same equipment used by the ghost hunting shows.

When the Rose Lummus was built under a different name in Jeffersonville, IN in 1953, the 49 passenger tour boat ferried tourists in Tennessee and Mississippi. She came to Sodus Bay in the 1980s and was renamed the Rose Lummis. In 2001, Captain John Cooper bought the Rose Lummis and after some intense renovations, began giving tours of the historic canal. Paranormal activity has even been reported aboard the vessel.

The William Phelps General Store was built in 1826 and served many purposes for the community; as a store, boarding house, tavern, bakery, and the Phelps family home. Could this 184 year old building be home to the spirits of the Phelps family who loved it so or the many people who came in and out of its doors throughout its long history in this quiet village?

Tickets for this special event in Palmyra are $35 for adults and $30 for kids 12 and under. You can join the Spirit Diggers and Captain Cooper at their regular port of call, Spencerport, NY, for the original Spirits of the Eerie Canal tour where they nightly investigate the Adams Basin Inn.
